Hokema - Sansula Basic Kalimba

The original Sansula: a soft, floating sound from nine notes. A kalimba mounted on a drum-style frame, tuned to A-minor so every note fits with the others. Rest it on your lap or a table and lift it as you play for the signature "wah-wah".

• Tuning: A-minor, 440 Hz
• Notes: A, C, C, A, A, F, E, E, B
• Solid American cherry tone block on a European beech frame, finished with linseed oil
• Size: 7.8" x 6.1" x 2.6" | Weight: about 0.7 lb
• Hokema's patented original design, handmade in Germany

Please note: the Basic has a delicate cellulose membrane. It is best for adults playing at home or in the studio. For travel, classes, children or shared use, choose the Sansula Renaissance or Sansula Deluxe.

Watch & Listen: Tuning Videos

We have compiled videos showing you different tuning options and how to tune your Sansula step by step. The Tuning Tool has an indented tip so you can securely place it at the end of the tine — it won't slip when you tap it with a hammer to push the tines in or out.
